Following on the runaway success of the Kickstarter-funded double-CD reissue The A&M Years, The Swimming Pool Q’s release The System of Love EP – a set of three shimmering tracks that preview the group’s next full length album to be released in 2014 and the first new Q’s material since 2003’s critically acclaimed Royal Academy of Reality.

The System of Love EP includes the title track, a slinky schematic featuring the atmospheric guitar work of Bob Elsey; “Science Moon”, in which we might glimpse the future through the large end of an ancient telescope; and “Easy Prey”, which brings Anne Richmond Boston’s vocals to the fore in a contemplative setting reminiscent of the group’s deepest cuts.

As a collection, the System of Love EP expands on the evocative territory where we last found the group, while embracing a thoroughly modern and direct approach. Longtime fans will appreciate these stunning songs as the evolutionary work of a band in full, while new audiences will discover an utterly singular sound to place among their favorite rock and atmospheric bands.

In addition to new singles "System of Love", "Science Moon", and "Easy Prey", the EP also contains an exclusive – a live New Year's Eve 1987 recording of “Wreck Around”, from Atlanta's Buckhead Cinema & Drafthouse (the Buckhead Theatre today). Each of the singles is available for individual purchase, and the live track is exclusive to the EP.

Track Name: System of Love

the world is filled

with sand and stone

a system of love

with the power of green

curved by my thoughts alone

the morning sun

is my limousine

that takes you to the forest fires

the lake inside of you desires

cause we’re down

in the desert concealed

in the radium glow

of the afternoon rains

Our system of love

is a stereo field

when our eyes choose to meet

on alluvial plains

that take you to the forest fires

the lake inside of you desires

when the side

of our planet is high

our system of love

is the radical real

curved by my thoughts alone

the coming eclipse

is the thing that we feel

the lake inside of you desires

the lake inside of you

and your desires

inside the system

system of love

inside the system

the sister of love
Track Name: Science Moon

There’s a changing weather pattern coming soon
Will we ever learn the science of the moon?
And we’re chasing phantoms cross the canyon floor
And we never knew that folks were here before
What the day disguises
Nighttime’s prize is

And we must consult the compass in the shed
Or better yet the gyroscope instead
In the turning of the wheel I’m sure we’ll know
That here is still the perfect place to go
What the day disguises
Nighttime’s prize is

And we’ll watch the morning sun begin to spark
In a spot where old explorers made their mark
And we’ll think about the changes coming soon
In the signs and science of the moon
In the signs and science of the moon
Track Name: Easy Prey

Is embodied

In the body

Of a deep cave

I am

Just a lover

Who is lower

Than the flooded plain

An easy prey

To passion

Coming soon

All my feelings gather

In the cycles of

The sixteenth moon

I am one

Who wanders

Summoned lonesome towards

The moist and mineral world

One who wanders the land

In her dark cause

Just because she can

Just because

June because she can

Just because she cannot feel your understanding
